I have recently picked up the brush (a real one not a digital one). I haven't done any real traditional paintings since college and even then it was only a few acrylics done in first year. I decided to try working with oils, and it has been immensely rewarding. My first painting tentatively named "Finding light" has been submitted, and I plan on doing more paintings very soon (abstract landscapes). I would love to get your feed back on these submissions!
Awesome! I miss painting in oils...I have to wait till my toddler is a little older before I go back to the oils.
Thanks cogwurx! These are actually water mixable oils so no harmful solvents are needed. Quite frankly they are amazing. All the properties and characteristics of oils but can be thinned with water and cleaned with water. Of course there specially made mediums and thinners available as well.
Nice. I've been eying those for a while. I'm too wrapped up in the old way to make the switch....ie too many brushes and paints. :-S
I hear ya, it would be hard to give up the investment of all those supplies, or add new ones to the stockpile. For me the choice was far simpler as I had nothing at all to begin with so it was a fresh start.
I am delighted to hear you've taken up oils.
